General

Hanne Grice is quite simply as good as it gets. Hanne has been helping us with our dogs for over 5 years now. She’s been there along the way as our pups have gone through puppyhood, then adolescence and onto middle-age. Hanne is a rare combination of expertise and deep learning. She not only has years of rich experience of working with dogs, she is also extremely well versed in research and theory of animal behaviour. This sets her apart from others. The other key to Hanne’s success is that she “gets” people and knows that dogs can only succeed if owners do the right thing. She’s a wonderful coach, mentor, supporter, and champion. Do yourself a huge favour, work with Hanne and don’t bother with the rest!

Dog behaviour consultancy (in person)

Hanne is incredibly professional, patient and incredibly informative. She has helped my dog Apollo who was a rescue with a very turbulent background living on the streets, being shot at and beaten up. Just after one session Hanne equipped me with so much information and activities that have transformed Apollo. He still has anxious moments but he is becoming more and more trusting and relaxed. I can’t thank Hanne enough nor recommend her highly enough.

Hanne is a wonderful behaviourist. Our Frenchie has ongoing issues with anxiety and reactivity that other trainers have found tricky to solve and give guidance on, yet Hanne has not only been able to help us to significantly with dealing with his reactivity, but has also given us lots of confidence, care and attention. We know that it will take lots of time and consistency to get him into a place where he can be comfortable with certain triggers, but Hanne celebrates every small win with us and makes us feel like we’re not alone. Our dog also found it very difficult meeting Hanne (as with any new people), and now she’s greeted with lots of excitement and bum wiggles because he loves her as much as we do! Thank you Hanne!

Hanne is incredibly knowledgeable and skilled…her 1-1 course has been fantastic for our situation and our puppy is responding to it so well. I honestly don’t know what I would of done without her support. Thank you so much. Rachael and Ronnie.

We asked Hanne to help us with issues we’d encountered with our nearly 2 year old Working Cocker. The three sessions we had were incredibly useful and we learnt so much, plus supporting our other Cocker puppy and old dog too. Hanne is very easy to work with and super helpful. Thank you!

Dog behaviour consultancy (virtual)

Hanne is a ‘next level’ behaviourist. She is extremely knowledgeable and highly qualified. Working with her has been a delight, as she is also very friendly, adaptive and non-judgemental, which I think is key for getting the best outcome for you and your pet. I would also say that her services are very good value for money, as I have had many hours of zoom calls, and detailed, ‘my dog’ specific information and exercises, together with critique of me ‘out in the field’. I highly recommend.

Hanne is amazing. Her advice has transformed our relationship with our boisterous Labrador.

Cat consultancy

Hanne helped us with the transition of letting our adolescent cats outside. We were worried about how we could introduce the outdoors to our cats as we live near a busy road. Hanne provided a structured plan which included management strategies, as well as a cat training plan for us to work on, in order to help build a positive association to specific areas that were safe for them to venture. The boys have been happily going outside for some time now, and they never head towards the busy road so we’re delighted.

My cat had been peeing inside for some time and he seemed fit and well. I worked with Hanne to help address this issue and she was incredibly supportive throughout. She was able to identify what was causing the problem and with some changes at home and around the way we interacted with our cat, we saw results really quickly. I am so thankful for all her help and cannot recommend Hanne enough.

Hanne helped make our wedding special. My mum knew how important it was for my cat to be involved in our big day and got in touch with Hanne about this. She worked with Genghy, ensuring he would be calm and cope well on the day. Thanks so much Hanne.

One to one dog training virtual

Had an awesome 1-2-1 with Hanne. Our shepador pup was very bitey and humpy. Just normal puppy stuff but we were really struggling. With Hanne’s advice and showing us how to act with him, he has really settled now and we are enjoying him so much more. Looking forward to puppy classes very soon.

Had a fantastic session with Hanne today – she really knows her stuff. She had our foster dog – and us – sussed in 5 minutes! So many helpful tips, easy-reference handouts and practical demos. Felt very inspired and highly recommend.

Phone call support

This lovely lady knew from the beginning of the phone call that my mother was out of her area but she spent a long time discussing our rescue dog’s issues. She gave her time and expertise, and the suggestions she made instantly helped. What an expert. Thank you so much.

Hanne provided invaluable guidance and training for our dog when she was a puppy. Her approach is very much research based and her strategies work. More recently, I contacted Hanne to discuss an issue of our dog barking at night. Once again, Hanne was an amazing resource and had very sensible ideas and helped up come up with a workable plan. Hanne is so knowledgeable and enthusiastic, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to any dog owner.
Sarah Watson

Due to living some distance away from Hanne, I had a telephone consultation with her regarding two of my dogs who had started to behave aggressively towards each other. Despite never having met either dog, Hanne pretty much described them and their behaviours to perfection and, as a result she has been able to give me a number of ideas to follow in order to improve the situation. Already, in just a few hours I am seeing positive changes which has led to a much more relaxed atmosphere in the house. The knowledge Hanne displayed throughout our call was phenomenal. My only regret is that I don’t live nearer because if I did then I would ensure that all my dogs attend the workshops held by Hanne because I have absolutely no doubt that they (and I) would totally benefit from these sessions.

Group classes – general

Hanne’s classes (and general advice) have been invaluable to us – the techniques are all simple to learn and work on. Definitely recommend.

I absolutely love working with Hanne and our puppy Ava! She has really helped me learn to understand Ava’s behaviour and how my own reactions have a part to play! Lessons are always thoroughly planned and I’m not sure mummy or Ava are more exhausted by the end! I look forward to our lessons and puppy classes continuing! Would thoroughly recommend.

Just wanted to thank you for the training and advice that Lexie and I have received over the past 6 weeks, I never thought we could have achieved so much via online training. We are constantly putting the training into practice and yesterday we were at Tring park and used your training to recall and even drop when she got hold of some small dead animals! My daughter walked her and commented on how well she walked to heel. Definitely feeling very proud.

I loved our Zoom puppy sessions with Hanne.  Consistent, fun and manageable!  Our 12 week old pup came on leaps and bounds with the training.  She recently graduated with her rosette and certificate.  Thank you so much and see you for more training in the teenage ages!

Group classes – stage 1 puppies (in-person)

Hanne is such a lovely kind trainer, she is extremely knowledgeable but never makes you feel like you are asking silly questions. She runs her sessions in a fun and engaging way, using only positive, science-based methods. It’s really good to see how the training relates to real life scenarios and we have noticed such a difference in our puppy’s behaviour having done Puppy & Dog School. Thank you again Hanne.

Just completed the puppy stage one training with Hanne and I am so impressed with my Hector’s progression! In six short weeks with Hanne’s training only once a week for one hour, Hector has gone from a boisterous jumpy ignorant puppy, to being able to demonstrate impulse control, strong recall, along with a staggering improvement in manners and general handling. I have learnt a great deal about dogs, their behaviour, how to prevent biting and dealing with difficult situations at home and out and about. Hanne has always been very knowledgeable and quick to respond to emails providing really useful advice. Despite my scepticism and surprise (because it always seems like Hector used to be such a handful) Hector finished in 3rd place with Honours in the final session. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Hanne Grice Pet Training & Behaviour to anyone! Thanks Hanne.

Group classes – stage 2 teens (in-person)

My puppy has just graduated from stage 2 teens classes. What amazing fun they were. Hanne was patient kind encouraging and very motivating. Our 6 “teenagers” learnt to interact politely with each other (most of the time 😂) and worked really hard together to learn new things and practice what they were taught. We as owners are learning as much if not more than our puppies and Hanne’s patience was very much appreciated. One of my favourite moments was during the last class lying flat on my back asking my puppy to sit. She did but she had a very confused look on her face 😂🐶  Thank you Hanne. I look forward to stage 3 when it comes around.
Jane Lines

I loved the Stage 2 Teens training course. Thank you so much for a well structured, positive and fun time.
Laura, Jude and Pheobe O’Mahoney

Just completed Stage 2 Teens dog training with Sunny our lively Border Collie. We both loved the course – excellent instruction, great insights into dog (and human) behaviour and some fun tricks! Thanks Hanne and I look forward to Stage 3.

Group classes – stage 3 improvers (in-person)

Hanne is brilliant with both dog and owner (thank you Hanne). My dog loves and complies with all the positive reinforcement Hanne teaches, and as a first time dog owner her help, support and reassurance has been invaluable and much appreciated. Hanne was recommended by my neighbour who raved about the results from just one session and I am not disappointed. Friendly, kind and fabulous at understanding and sharing what drives our individual dogs in order to gain the best outcome. Highly recommend this trainer and behaviourist, positive, safe, happy dog training all the way. A great help with owners too 😊.
Clare Griffin

I just wanted to say a big thank you for all your help with Harvey (and us) who would believe 12 months ago, he was a young rescue pup who wouldn’t recall, had no self control and was rejected by his first owners for aggressive food guarding. Now look at him. 😊

Mentor support and services

Hanne has been an amazing resource whilst I have been studying my canine behaviour diploma. She has encouraged me to explore my answers for myself whilst offering advice and help where necessary. I cannot thank her enough for the time she has given me as I’m sure she is a very busy lady!! Her help and advice has been invaluable. Hanne’s knowledge and experience is second to none and I would highly recommend her for any training and behavioural needs. Thank you! 😊
Katherine Foster

I really enjoyed working with Hanne as my mentor. She was very supportive, gave great advice and helped me achieve the results I needed to qualify for my certified dog trainer status at the Victoria Stillwell Academy. Thanks so much.

I liked the worksheets [Dog Body Language workshop] and the fact it was interactive, and Hanne showed examples of real dogs. I’ve already been recommending this to friends as it’s taught me to be very aware of reading my dog’s behaviour towards other dogs and also the fact that at times she may be overstimulated and needs a rest.
Alyson Carter

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your Dog Body Language workshop this morning. I am very interested in attending more of your workshops. Also I would just like to say what a professional quality certificate you presented us all with, I am very impressed and will definitely recommend you to anyone interested in dogs and how they work.
Lynn McLauchlan

Really good workshop, like your style and the information was really enlightening. The way you explain it is like teaching letters of the alphabet, put it together and a word appears. Great stuff, would love to learn more in the future and am looking forward to reading your book.
Dexter Blain

I have 2 dogs and wanted to understand how I could read their body language. It was a very interesting and helpful morning and Hanne has an excellent delivery of her workshop.
Debbie Bullard

I would just like to say thank you for a great morning at the Canine Exercise workshop, I found it very enjoyable and interesting and Emma is an inspiration. I especially liked the practical session outside and have been working with my guys today and they loved the new activities.
Nathan Roberts

Three-year-old Jack Russell cross, Max, has been taking part in agility since his puppy class days. I came along to the Canine Exercise workshop because I was interested in the exercises activities and learning how to observe and recognise problems. I found it really enjoyable and a really professional course; I like the suggested exercises activities and will do more at home.

5.0 out of 5 stars – THE book for enjoying your dog more

This book is a must for anyone who wants to build a positive, playful relationship with their puppy or dog. It is easy to read, and filled with not just the background for why playing is so important and how it builds the confidence and fitness of your dog, but also with practical ways of doing just that. The way the book is divided into puppy, adult dog and older dog, allows the reader to find just the right play exercise to have fun with that day, and with so many helpful suggestions there is something there for everyone

5.0 out of 5 stars – Fantastic book for all ages

I downloaded this book for my 10 year old son, an absolutely brilliant book as it kept both my son and dog amused for hours. This book is the perfect present for both adults and children alike and has fantastic illustrations throughout, which really held his interest. It’s packed full of great advice and suggestions which has kept not only my son but the whole family entertained for hours on end. This would make a perfect Birthday or Christmas present for any age.

5.0 out of 5 stars – Keep Your Dog Entertained Without Leaving the House

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 October 2010

This is an excellent book which gives you so many ideas about how you can keep your dog amused and stimulated without leaving the house. It provides you with numerous games to play with your dog whatever its age and you will love them as much as your dog does. Since I have been following the book’s advice, my dog definitely wags her tail more and she doesn’t seem bothered at all if it is pouring outside and we play “hunt the treat” inside rather than pounding the pavements getting soaked. It is an essential read for all dog owners especially busy ones.
