With Bonfire Night approaching, our latest advice on helping dogs cope with fireworks has been published by Hemel Today.

In the article, Hanne explains why it’s perfectly OK to comfort a frightened dog when they seek reassurance. Drawing on recent research into fireworks fear, attachment and social buffering, she discusses the importance of recognising what an individual dog needs from their owner.
The piece also looks at some of the less obvious signs of fear, practical steps owners can take before fireworks begin, and why a sudden change in noise sensitivity may warrant veterinary investigation, particularly where pain or discomfort could be involved.
A big thank you to Hemel Today for sharing this advice with local readers.
