The subject of a child’s possible impact on the human-dog dyad has always interested Hanne, having worked with expectant parents looking to prepare their dog ahead of their baby’s arrival and parents experiencing dog problems following baby’s arrival. Whilst there is plenty of evidence to suggest living with a dog can improve human health and well-being, as well as enhance cognitive development in infants, what impact a baby has on Fido is under-reported. Moreover, there is a lack of data regarding owner-dog interactions and attachment where owners go onto have a child or children.
