Friday 8th October, Mark Prisk MP, Minister for Business and Enterprise and representatives from the Commission for Rural Communities, The Prince’s Rural Action Programme and the Plunkett Foundation gathered in Hertfordshire for a ‘Rural Business in Action Day’ organised by Women in Rural Enterprise (WiRE).
Berkhamsted based business owner Hanne Grice was selected to represent the South of England’s female rural entrepreneurs and present to the Minister and delegates about the success of her business Walk the Dog and the challenges faced by being a woman in business. Hanne Grice is founder of the multi-award winning Walk the Dog, a pet care & behaviour company which was established in 2006 and has over 400 clients.
Mark Prisk MP requested a panel session following the presentations asking Hanne Grice how the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) can help businesses and what could be improved.
Hanne Grice said “It was a fantastic opportunity to talk about my business to the Minister and the Directors about the positive impact we have made to the community and the successes and challenges I’ve also faced. Walk the Dog was years in the planning, with researching my industry and the area, and it involves continual learning and training so my business can continue to grow and be successful. I’m delighted that all the hard work has been acknowledged by fellow female entrepreneurs and to get a ‘pat on the back’ from the Minister for Business and Enterprise is the icing on the cake!”
Hanne Grice is a certified canine behaviour specialist and next on the agenda for this female entrepreneur is her new book “Playing With Your Dog” which launches in time for Christmas in the UK and USA.
